USS Cole |
|
Of course, I alwasy carry a Photon Light |
My
daughter is in the Army station overseas, before she left she wanted
to know if she could have the four Photon lights we owned. We asked
her why and she said she just had a feeling she would need them.
When the USS Cole was attacked the base where she is stationed went
on full alert and out went the electricity. She lives in the
barracks with 100 other military members and she said that chaos
broke out, no one knew what was happening and everyone feared the
worst with sirens blaring. She fumbled in the dark and found the
photon lights under her bed. She handed one to the person next to
her and brought light to the situation.

This
summer my family and I traveled to a mountain village in Guatemala
on a work project. One of the long-term projects there is a health
clinic. While familiarizing ourselves with the clinic, we were told
that an infant was in the emergency room. A nurse in our group
rushed there to see if she could assist. I accompanied her as the
photographer. What we found was a severely dehydrated baby who had
spent the past two days on her mother’s back traveling to the
clinic. Her blood pressure was so low that, between two nurses and
dozens of attempts, they could not locate a vein to start an I.V.
The baby’s stomach was extended, her eyes were unresponsive and
everyone was beginning to be desperate. One of the nurses asked if
anyone had a flashlight. Of course, I always carry a Photon light.
She used it to shine through the infant’s hand, hoping the veins
would be visibly dark against the pink skin. Using this method, they
found a vein and were able to save the infant’s life. Thanks for
making a reliable light small enough to go everywhere.

How the Photon Micro-Light Saved My Life in Russia |
|
Photon Light saved our lives |
While living in Samara, Russia as a volunteer law professor for the Civic Education Project, I kept a Photon Micro-Light on my key chain. During the ten months that I was there, I found it to be one of my most useful assets. I often used my
Photon I yellow key model to safely find my way around dark streets and buildings but I never would have guessed that the light would save my life.
Late one Friday night in the early spring, I was walking home alone through some dreary Soviet housing blocks on a path that I took every day.
The night was darker than usual because there was no moon. There were few streetlights on my route
so I was carrying my Photon in my hand. As I approached an archway passing underneath a building, a huge German shepherd charged out from the darkness barking and snarling with ferocity. Thinking quickly, I leveled my Photon at the dog’s
wolf-like head and shined the bright yellow light in his eyes. Blinded by the light, the animal stopped dead in its tracks. Continuing to bark and growl, the confused canine circled to my right. All the while I kept the enraged dog’s eyes
ablaze with the bright yellow beam. The stunned Shepherd briefly fell back a few yards then renewed its onslaught with the same result: blinded by my tiny yet powerful Photon the frustrated hound stopped about six feet away from me menacingly
barking and flashing his teeth as I held him off with the light until his owners finally arrived. From that moment on, I always had my Photon in my hand when walking after dark in Russia!

I received one of your Photon lights last Christmas as a present. I
am a fire inspector and found that your light is very handy. On my
key chain it is always with me (not left behind in the car) and I
don’t have to mess with chargers. I have yet to replace the
batteries. It is bright enough to replace a full sized flashlight
and nowhere near the bulkiness!
Moreover, ten days ago, it saved our lives. I had been visiting my
daughter, Jacquelyn, in North Dakota and was driving back to the
airport at 5 a.m. when we hit a patch of ice and slid off the
Interstate. The car rolled 2 ½ times and we ended up in the ditch 60
some feet off the road, upside down in the dark. We couldn’t find
her full-sized flashlight in the car because the impact had broken
it into pieces. The car electricity was out, windows broken out and
it was 9 degrees Fahrenheit. We were bruised, cut and dazed.
Jacquelyn crawled out through the passenger side window and went
around to the rear to retrieve the cell phone and call the Highway
Patrol. I kicked the rest of the windshield out and crawled out into
the snow. I got the Photon out of my purse. We watched as another
car slid off the highway above us. Seconds later a pick-up truck
stopped on the shoulder. Two young men got out of the pick-up and
called down. They couldn’t see us in the dark—just a dark blob in
the snow. We signaled with the Photon and they scrambled down the
embankment. We used the Photon to find our belongings and illuminate
our way back to the truck. The two guys helped us up to the truck
and transported us to the hospital emergency room. The highway
patrol was busy with the other vehicles that had slid off the road
about the same spot. The guys were amazed at the size of the Photon
when they saw it up close; they had thought we had a spotlight on
our car! It was that bright. Thank you for inventing and marketing
something so useful, practical, reliable and handy.

Midwest Tornado |
Saturday last I saw your Photon micro-lights in a bookstore. I purchased one as I have severe vision problems and regularly need extra light even to read menus in restaurants. I was
delighted.
That night my wife and I took my small trawler out to our club for dinner. We arrived back at the darkened marina after 10:00 pm. My wife and I were securing the boat and canvas covers, we were hurrying because it looked about to rain and in
my suit and tie I didn’t want to get wet. I noticed a light in the pilothouse and rushed down the darkened pier to extinguish it. I walked right off the end of the dock into ten feet of salt water. I surfaced finally and called for my wife
while trying to hang onto the rub rail of the boat. I was hidden under the lee of the hull. I reached for my new light, which had been so useful earlier at the club. I pressed the button, soaked by salt water it flickered and came on. My wife
saw the light and raced to the rail with a life ring and rope and helped me out of the water. Thanks for making such a good product.

I’m happy to report that your
Photon flashlight passed the acid test.
Recently I was at my families ranch in the Midwest when a tornado
hit the place. It arrived rather unexpectedly about 10:30 pm and
knocked out all the power. My friend’s 7-year-old son was outside in
the tent when the storm hit and thankfully I had your light with me
because we were able to run straight to the tent and extricate him
without wasting time looking for a light. Moments after we had
rescued him the winds flattened the tent and blew it away. The
tornado spared the house, but it utterly destroyed the barn and
corral. It also picked up several 900 lbs. hay bales and carried
them over to the Neighbors.
Thanks again,

Sunrise on Mt. Sanai |

Christmas surprise |
I always
take a small flashlight with me
whenever I travel, and prior to this
trip a friend recommended that I get a Photon. He gave me a demo of
his light and I was impressed. I bought several but had no idea what
was in store for my little light on my next trip. One of my many
“adventures” on the trip involved a hike to the top of Mt. Sinai to
watch the sunrise. Our hike was to begin at 1:30 a.m.. We would be
making the 3-hour plus hike in complete darkness.
A few hours before we were to leave our guide asked my friend and I
if we had flashlights. My friend had a small flashlight and I had my
blue Photon II. When the guide saw my little flashlight he burst out
in laughter and expressed his disbelief that such a tiny light would
be of any help to me on the hike. (I want to re-iterate that I
brought the flashlight on the trip completely out of habit – I
completely forgot that I was going to need a flashlight on the
hike.) I had another small flashlight but opted to only take the
Photon on the hike. My decision was reinforced when the guide
reminded my friend and I to bring extra batteries since we would be
using the flashlight continuously for at least 3 ½ hours. My friend
packed 2 extra AA batteries in his backpack, the guide packed 3
extra C batteries in his backpack and I slipped the Photon II into
my pocket.
As we started up the mountain the guide said he didn’t think “that
tiny little flashlight” was going to give me enough light to see. I
pointed out that I only needed to see the ground in front of me – I
wasn’t trying to light up the entire mountain. As the hike
progressed I had no trouble seeing where I was going and, because of
the blue light, the guide could easily spot me among the other
hikers on the trail. Halfway up the mountain, as we became more
tired, I was thankful that the weight in my backpack only came from
the water I was carrying and not from extra batteries. After we
arrived at the top we waited at least an hour more for the sun to
come up. During that time I used my light to look around and to
write postcards. From start to finish the light was continuously on
for over 4 hours and it was burning just as brightly when I turned
it off at sunrise as it did when I turned it on at the bottom of the
mountain. Thanks for a great product. |

My mother bought four of your marvelous Photon Micro-Lights from
my brother for me for Christmas. She ranted and raved about how good
they were, compact, bright, light weigh and convenient. I anxiously
waited their arrival.
Unfortunately my two golden retrievers must have overheard our
conversation because they too were anxiously waiting the arrival of
the mailman to see what my mother had sent them for Christmas. I
arrived home after dark and while fumbling for my house key was
greeted by my two “wonder-full” dogs that promptly rushed off to the
far corner of the yard. Very unusual, I investigated.
Both dogs were swallowing the last morsel of Italian biscotti bread
surrounded by the remnants and trappings of a joyous holiday that
included three empty shredded blister packs that offered shreds of
clues what they had contained….o-Ligh…Mi…ht…..Pho……! Oh Oh! In the
package unopened was the fourth light.
Temperatures below freezing, pitch black… and two dogs that only
wanted to celebrate with me instead of helping me find the missing
pieces. I opened the one unopened Photon Micro-Light. The next
morning I spotted a small black object on one of our rain-soaked
patio chairs and found the last of the lights… holes chewed through
the light case and denting the now visible battery. I was just about
to throw it away as I couldn’t get any illumination but I decided to
use my knife blade to pry back some of the plastic and …surprise of
surprises... it now works.
You obviously build a wonderful light. It’s great to find a product
that is as good or better than it’s advertising. Thanks and keep the
lights burning.
