I used
to work in an outfitter where I sold climbing/backpacking gear.
Since then I have collected somewhat of a following when it comes to
gear recommendation/selection because of my anal retentive nature in
evaluating and recommending gear. The Photon II is top on my
recommendation list. It fits everyone’s needs – from the hardcore
outdoor enthusiasts to the stay at home mom.
As a lite weight backpacker, I have eliminated all flashlights and
spare batteries from my pack, for your better, lighter alternative

Yesterday, a friend and myself found ourselves on top of a mountain
at twilight, with no light other than my yellow Photon II. It took
us a couple hours, but we managed to navigate well enough in the
moonless dark of the northern woods to get down from the mountain,
and then hiked through a swamp to the nearest highway. If we didn’t
have that light, I don’t know if we would have made it off that
mountain in the right direction or one piece, as it illuminated a
drop off we may not have seen in all the other shadows. It also
proved invaluable for checking the compass we had, and maneuver over
and around the fallen trees in the swamp. It was a real lifesaver,
possibly literally.
Thank you for making a quality product,

Each
year, I volunteer my time as a Black Rock City Ranger at a
“participants only” art event called “Burning Man”, located in the
high Nevada desert. The volunteer “rangers” of this community serve
the thousands of Black Rock participants by providing directions,
medical attention, water, warmth, safety and of course light. During
the pitch black nights, 3800 feet up on the flat expanse of dry
lake-bed plya, running around on foot or on bicycle, you need a
good, strong light that lets you see as well as be seen. Just as
importantly you need things that don’t weigh you down. You must
quickly respond to calls while remaining entirely mobile. Since cars
aren’t allowed in Black Rock City, all call responses (except those
few vehicles with special permits) must be carried out on foot or on
pedal-bike. The most common injuries in the desert are 1)
dehydration and 2) punctures, cuts or scrapes (from walking into
things in the dark). As a ranger, you’re constantly carrying around
water and a first-aid kit, plus water for yourself. For the past two
years, my friend John Gilmore has purchased scads of your Photon
lights, which he has kindly given away as presents to his friends at
the event. Because of your wonderful little lights, along with
John’s generosity, I have completely abandoned -all- my other
flashlights. Yep, that’s right, the Photon lights are the only light
I carry. I’m recommending them to all other rangers as a lightweight
source of light. They serve as excellent bicycle lights all you need
to do is tape one to the front of your bike and leave the switch on.
They can be placed on your hat with a bit of Velcro, thereby
replacing those cumbersome “head-band” or “hard-hat” style lights.
You can just wear one around your neck on a chain. You can even tape
them to the tops of your boots so you can see the ground when you
walk. Either way, they’re hands down the BST and most versatile
lighting product I’ve ever used, and are brighter than any other
light I know of. People could see me a mile away when I flashed my
impressive turquoise Photon at night. I think anyone in the care and
response business (paramedics, police, ambulance drivers, first
responders, doctors, ect.) should have at least a couple of these
gems. They should be a standard piece of equipment. They are
perfect.

What a
light! After reading an article about your Photon Lights in a
bow-hunting magazine, I decided to try one for my hunting. I
purchased a red one and this light proved invaluable to retrieving
not one but TWO deer this week! My brother in law and I both hit a
deer right at quitting time on back-to-back evening hunts. We hung
the light on the tree that we had our tree stand in and had shot
from. This way we were able to go back to camp to get a spotlight
and find our tree again in the deep dark, night time woods in order
to begin our trailing job to retrieve our deer. No problem seeing
the red light from war far off. I need to get more of these lights
for sure! Thank you for a real sweet light.

There
were four tourista’s on a short hike to the jungle waterfall. So
beautiful we couldn’t help but explore just a little further and a
little further. Daylight starting to fade we asked a farmer for
directions in first grade Spanish. He points, but I feel he has a
“dumb tourist” expression on his face. Down the canyon we go
reaching the creek as darkness arrives. Well we’re not at the road
but ½ mile away and 100 ft. above. A silence grabbed us all as we
realized the severity of our miscalculation.
Someone reached in their daypack and pulled out a single AA battery
flashlight with about a 2 ft. beam OH! **%&(!D!! OH.
Then I remembered I had taken my yellow Photon light off of my
jacket and hooked it to my pocketknife (a real survival combo).
Light beautiful soft yellow light. Away we went over giant boulders,
down waterfalls, etc. to the road. Checking out every step along the
way. As we reached the road, backslapping and ha has’ ensued,
looking back up the canyon there was a sight at the entrance, it
read “Pelegro Zonada de Culembras Venonousos” (Warning Zone of
Poisonous Snakes).

In the
course of a lifetime spent as much as possible in the outdoors, I
have used many different flashlights, lanterns and other lighting
devices, so I eagerly anticipated “trying out’ your Photon
Micro-Light. When I received it I was doubly impressed with the
simplicity of its design and the almost incredible brightness of the
light. In my job as the Supply and Purchasing Manager for a textile
company, I often find that the advertised quality and/or features of
a marketed item are far removed from the received-reality. Your
light, however, exceeded my expectations. And when I had reason to
make use of it at work the other day, it definitely exceeded the
expectations of my co-workers.
During the middle of one afternoon last week, a severe lightning
storm struck our area, and the electrical power in my plant was
knocked out. Several members of our administrative staff and I were
in a windowless office area, which went from fluorescent-bright to
the pitches of black in an instant. I was carrying the Micro-Light
with its convenient size, one can always carry it – and using it I
led the others to an area with natural lighting. What made this
incident so personally satisfying was the fact that a couple of
those people who followed the beam of the Photon had previously made
“light” of “that little laser pointer” when I had shown it to them
after I had first acquired it. Afterwards these same people asked me
where they could purchase a Photon for themselves. Obviously the
only true test for any light must be held in darkness.
In closing let me thank you for producing such an economical, well
designed and convenient lighting device.
Sincerely,
Ernie Lambert

My
daughter gave me a white Photon for Fathers day. I took it with me
on a back packing trip to Nova Scotia, Kejimkujik Park. I could pick
my path through huge ferns easily at night. The beam would carry 50
yards out to show the “little building” they had out there. Finding
that place is Very important for those middle of the night sojourns.
I met two really nice maintenance fellows one time out there that I
wish to say thanks for helping me. I could think of no better way to
say thanks than giving them Photons.
Thanks for a good product.

Want a
light you can run 100-miles with. You know you have a winner with

bright.

I bought
a Photon in blue. I LOVED it. It was so much brighter than anything
else I’d seen. I used it intensively for car repairs, plumbing,
computer repairs, anywhere I didn’t have enough light. It really
showed through when I was at a Boy Scout campout, some snow hit and
most of the lights failed from water, but my Photon light stayed
strong and we were able to find some propane lights. Thanks to the
people who make these wonderful little lights.

Thanks
for a great product. I am an engineer by profession with hobbies
like horses, hiking and adventure racing. I’ve been through 5 sets
of batteries already. The lights have been used in raving, power
outages, to repair trailer lights at the roadside at night, to crawl
down and inspect gulleys (French drains), inspect caves, during
camping trips in my tent (the on/off switch is invaluable then), to
remove an foreign object from an injured horses’ eye, and many other
times. My lights are permanently with me – one on my chain and the
other on my motorcycle key. I have other flashlights but Photons
account for 90% of actual use.

flashlights, and I countered with a demonstration of the white
Photon II that I carry on my key ring. The Photon II was superior in
light output, and was much smaller. They were also chagrined to hear
that the astronauts carried your product, while NASA staffers were
content with lesser products.

I have been a building inspector for
27 years and for the first 20 years my flashlight was always in the
trunk when I needed it. Flashlights were just too cumbersome. A few
years ago I tried several small lights but the batteries don’t last
long enough, and the bulbs were too dim. Then my son Forrest, while
caving in England, told me about a light he used as an emergency
light source because of its brightness and longevity. It turned out
to be the Photon light. I bought a white one and have never been
without it since. I attached it to my knife. The light is very small
and easily carried and I really like the on/off switch.

My partner and I are avid cyclists and have both carried Photon
Micro-Lights on our key rings for some time now, finding them quite
useful for lighting up key holes, mending punctures and innumerable
other tasks.
Recently we were preparing for a fortnight away touring on our
pushbikes when the subject of how to light the inside of the tent
came up. We had been using a miniature oil lamp (similar to hikers
candle lanterns) but this was not very bright and tended to be a bit
messy. Helen (my partner) suggested we try using her white Photon
II; we could hang it from the central hook. We were surprised to
find that not only did it illuminate the whole tent; it was bright
enough to read by. After a fortnight (14 days) of being used every
night it showed no signs of dimming. Subsequently we bought another
white Photon II so it can stay attached in the center of the tent
even when the tent is packed up – so it is always ready for use

Our completion of the Subaru Primal Quest Adventure Race would
have never been made possible without the use of the Photon Fusion
lights. Did they provide us with spectacular peripheral night vision
on top of those pitch-black peaks, but they also allowed us to see
every log, rock and obstacle “shadow free” on our 3am single-track
mountain bike rides!
In an adventure race, conservation of time is everything. The easy
and convenient bicycle adapter and headlamp strap enable us to
interchange the lights between our bikes and our heads in a matter
of seconds. The Fusions truly are a magnificent combination of
versatility and function! Offering three levels of light, the Fusion
enabled us to ride nearly 20 hours in the dark with only one change
of batteries! In addition, the heavy hail and rain encountered
during our race posed no threat to the water resistance of your
Fusion.

One night about 10:20pm, my wife and I were in bed watching the news. The power suddenly went out. Our two St Bernard's managed to hop on our bed from their usual sleeping corners elsewhere in the house. I had
my turquoise Photon II on my night stand, we talked about just going to sleep anyway but our dogs wouldn’t let us. They were worried with the lighting and thunder outside. After a few minutes I had an idea. I got out of bed and got my red
Photon II, which I use for astronomy, tied a string on it and hung it on the wall. Since the red light has a battery life of 120 hours, I left it on all night. Our dogs calmed down and went back to their corners to sleep. It surely brightened
the room; you could see the furniture and everything I had only had the Photons for a month, I am sure glad I had them that night. They are awesome little lights.

I love
my Photon. I got my dad a white one for his birthday and figured I’d
get a turquoise while I was at it. I was really surprised at how small they are! It is really fun to go out during sunset when there
is still a little light and toss your Photon II in the air and let your cat chase it. Since it’s so bright you can’t loose it in the grass. Also putting a Photon in your mouth trick is really funny (it lights up your whole mouth). There are
just too many uses for this little light!

Awesome product! I have an orange one I clip on my dog’s collar
when we got out at night. I’ve gotten tons of comments from people
on what a great idea it is. She’s a Skipperke and is completely
black. At night she is easy to miss. I am going to order a blue and
a green for her too. She gets really excited when I put the light on
her because then she knows we are going on a walk
-
Hello there,
I wanted to let you know of another use your lights are being put
to. We use them at dog training classes, during the winter it is
fairly dark and the lighting we have lights up the course, but many
of the dogs are off in the field playing ball waiting there turn on
the course. Each dog has a light hooked on their collar, this way we
can all see where the dogs are going.
When we’re out on a walk at night the little light guarantees
everyone can see our dogs. When we send our dogs out at night to do
their “business” we can keep an eye on them from the house. They are
very handy lights.
Lindsey
-
Do you walk your dogs at night? Hang a Photon on their collar or
even several. The furry beasts can be seen in the dark a long way
away by you and by oncoming traffic. Walking along a dark road
without the dogs, a Photon on my jacket warns oncoming motorists of
my existence as well. This light is a must in anyone’s emergency kit
in the car, in the home and on the road.

My wife just purchased 3 Photon 3s for Valentine’s Day. We
received them, and today, our Brittany spaniel dog decided to put
his 6-month molars on the touch pad. Now the light stays on unless
we open the case and pull out the batteries.
Question, does this fall under the Warrantee of the lights? Please
let me know, maybe just the touch pad needs replacing. Or maybe the
dog needs replacing??!!
Just kidding. Anyway the other two lights are working great.
By the way, we purchased these lights on the recommendation of
Dennis Wolf, our fishing guide on the Elk River, Portland Oregon. He
loves your products. He was wearing a Fusion when we met him, it was
very bright and he would not shut up about it!!!

My mother bought four of your marvelous Photon Micro-Lights from
my brother for me for Christmas. She ranted and raved about how good
they were, compact, bright, light weigh and convenient. I anxiously
waited their arrival.
Unfortunately my two golden retrievers must have overheard our
conversation because they too were anxiously waiting the arrival of
the mailman to see what my mother had sent them for Christmas. I
arrived home after dark and while fumbling for my house key was
greeted by my two “wonder-full” dogs that promptly rushed off to the
far corner of the yard. Very unusual, I investigated.
Both dogs were swallowing the last morsel of Italian biscotti bread
surrounded by the remnants and trappings of a joyous holiday that
included three empty shredded blister packs that offered shreds of
clues what they had contained….o-Ligh…Mi…ht…..Pho……! Oh Oh! In the
package unopened was the fourth light.
Temperatures below freezing, pitch black… and two dogs that only
wanted to celebrate with me instead of helping me find the missing
pieces. I opened the one unopened Photon Micro-Light. The next
morning I spotted a small black object on one of our rain-soaked
patio chairs and found the last of the lights… holes chewed through
the light case and denting the now visible battery. I was just about
to throw it away as I couldn’t get any illumination but I decided to
use my knife blade to pry back some of the plastic and …surprise of
surprises... it now works.
You obviously build a wonderful light. It’s great to find a product
that is as good or better than it’s advertising. Thanks and keep the
lights burning.

How the Photon Micro-Light Saved My Life in Russia
By David K. Gatto
While living in Samara, Russia as a volunteer law professor for the
Civic Education Project, I kept a Photon Micro-Light on my key
chain. During the ten months that I was there, I found it to be one
of my most useful assets. I often used my Photon I yellow key model
to safely find my way around dark streets and buildings but I never
would have guessed that the light would save my life.
Late one Friday night in the early spring, I was walking home alone
through some dreary Soviet housing blocks on a path that I took
every day. The night was darker than usual because there was no
moon. There were few streetlights on my route so I was carrying my
Photon in my hand. As I approached an archway passing underneath a
building, a huge German shepherd charged out from the darkness
barking and snarling with ferocity. Thinking quickly, I leveled my
Photon at the dog’s wolf-like head and shined the bright yellow
light in his eyes. Blinded by the light, the animal stopped dead in
its tracks. Continuing to bark and growl, the confused canine
circled to my right. All the while I kept the enraged dog’s eyes
ablaze with the bright yellow beam. The stunned Shepherd briefly
fell back a few yards then renewed its onslaught with the same
result: blinded by my tiny yet powerful Photon the frustrated hound
stopped about six feet away from me menacingly barking and flashing
his teeth as I held him off with the light until his owners finally
arrived. From that moment on, I always had my Photon in my hand when
walking after dark in Russia!

Thanks for a great product. I am an engineer by profession with
hobbies like horses, hiking and adventure racing. I’ve been through
5 sets of batteries already. The lights have been used in raving,
power outages, to repair trailer lights at the roadside at night, to
crawl down and inspect gulleys (French drains), inspect caves,
during camping trips in my tent (the on/off switch is invaluable
then), to remove an foreign object from an injured horses’ eye, and
many other times. My lights are permanently with me – one on my
chain and the other on my motorcycle key. I have other flashlights
but Photons account for 90% of actual use.

My Fusion is great for walking the dog at night, checking for
predators near the chicken coop, camping and emergency SOS.

I show off my Fusions (I bought 2) to all my friends. Plus I use
it to check on the horses, fixing the car and showing it off to all
my friends.

I use my Fusion every night tending my horses. I love it because
my hands are free and it doesn’t’ add weight to what I am doing.

We have a lot of power outages and the Fusion is used as a long time
emergency light for a room full of psycho – birds.

I use the Fusion to check on my chickens – the pure white light
increases egg production during the winter months. It also scares
the coyotes away, and makes it easier for my wife to find me in the
snowdrifts, Thank you
